UPS Shipping, Rates & Tracking Inside Salesforce
FTM is designed to connect UPS parcel shipping operations to Salesforce through supported UPS APIs, enabling rate comparison, label generation, and shipment tracking within your Salesforce workflows when configured.
Compare UPS Services and Costs in Salesforce
When creating a shipment, FTM can call the UPS Rating API to return available UPS services alongside estimated rates and transit times for the configured shipment, so your team can evaluate options without switching to a separate shipping system.
UPS Ground, UPS 3 Day Select, UPS 2nd Day Air, and UPS Next Day Air options appear alongside estimated delivery information, supporting informed service selection within the Salesforce workflow.

Create Shipments and Generate UPS Labels in Salesforce
Using the UPS Shipping API, FTM supports the shipment creation workflow, collecting sender and recipient details, service selection, and package information from the Salesforce record and passing them to UPS to generate a shipping label.
Supported operations through this API include creating shipments, generating labels, managing supported returns, and voiding shipments when needed.
- Shipment creation from Salesforce records
- UPS parcel label generation (PDF or thermal format)
- Void shipment support for cancellation workflows
Note: Label format and service availability are subject to UPS account configuration and service eligibility.
Shipment Progress and Delivery Status in Salesforce
The UPS Tracking API returns package status, scan events, delivery information, and estimated delivery data. FTM can surface this information within Salesforce shipment records, reducing the need to check the UPS website for status updates.
Tracking information appears on the Salesforce record associated with the shipment, giving teams visibility into delivery progress without navigating outside the platform.
Tracking data is provided by UPS. Scan frequency and event detail vary by service level and account.
Schedule UPS Pickups Without Leaving Salesforce
The UPS Pickup API supports requesting on-demand pickups and managing supported pickup operations. FTM can expose this capability within Salesforce, allowing teams to initiate a pickup request as part of the shipment workflow.
Pickup availability and supported request types are subject to the UPS account configuration and geographic service area. FTM passes the request to UPS and returns the confirmation details to the Salesforce record.
Catch Address Issues Before Creating a Shipment
Two UPS APIs support the pre-shipment preparation workflow: Address Validation checks that shipping addresses are recognized by UPS, and the Time in Transit API estimates delivery dates across available services.
Residential address confirmed
Address validation results are subject to UPS API coverage and account configuration.
Address Validation API
Validates supported shipping addresses before shipment creation, helping to identify potential address issues within the Salesforce workflow. Coverage and validation results are subject to UPS API support for each address.
Transit estimates are provided by UPS and subject to service availability and operating conditions.
Time in Transit API
Estimates delivery dates and compares transit times across available UPS services for a given origin-destination pair, supporting service selection decisions within Salesforce without manual lookups.
International UPS Capabilities
UPS offers a range of international shipping tools through its developer APIs. Not all capabilities are available for every account, service, or destination. FTM can support these capabilities where the UPS account and configuration allow.
Supports electronic submission of international shipping documentation such as commercial invoices and certificates of origin, reducing paper document handling for eligible international UPS shipments.
Provides estimates for duties, taxes, and cross-border costs for applicable international shipments. Estimates are subject to UPS coverage, destination country, and shipment type, actual charges may differ.
UPS offers international air and express services including UPS Worldwide Express, UPS Worldwide Expedited, and UPS Standard for eligible countries. Service availability varies by origin, destination, and account.
The UPS Tracking API returns delivery confirmation and available signature information as part of shipment tracking data. POD detail and signature retrieval are subject to UPS service level and account permissions.
International capabilities vary by UPS service, destination country, and account type. FTM does not guarantee availability for all destinations or accounts. Consult your UPS account representative for specific eligibility.
What UPS Handles. What FTM Handles.

From Disconnected Shipping to Connected Workflows
Manual, multi-system shipping
- Enter shipment details in Salesforce, then re-enter them in the UPS shipping system separately
- Check UPS.com manually to get rate comparisons before deciding on a service
- Paste tracking numbers into UPS.com to monitor delivery progress
- Shipping data lives outside Salesforce, not easily visible in reports or records
- Address errors discovered only at label generation, not during record creation
Shipping workflows connected to Salesforce
- Shipment details flow from the Salesforce record to the UPS API without re-entry
- Rate comparison and service selection available within Salesforce, no separate tool required
- Tracking events surface on the Salesforce shipment record as UPS scan data is available
- Shipping data accessible in Salesforce records and reporting where configured
- Address validation available earlier in the workflow to flag issues before label creation
What Changes When UPS and Salesforce Work Together
When shipping operations are accessible within Salesforce, teams spend less time switching between systems to complete tasks that share the same underlying data.
UPS tracking events accessible on Salesforce records reduce the need to check external shipping portals for status, keeping shipment information closer to the teams who act on it.
With UPS shipment records stored in Salesforce, shipping activity becomes part of the Salesforce data model, available for reporting, record association, and operational review where configured.
Other Carriers in FTM
FTM connects Salesforce to a range of parcel and freight carriers. If your shipping operations include LTL freight alongside UPS parcel, TForce Freight (the former UPS Freight LTL business, divested in 2021) is available as a separate integration.
UPS vs. TForce Freight: UPS parcel and TForce Freight LTL are separate carrier services. UPS parcel handles package shipments via the UPS parcel network. TForce Freight handles LTL freight shipments on the former UPS Freight network, now operated independently under TForce Freight. If you need both services, FTM offers separate integrations for each.
