International Shipping, Connected to Your Freight Operations
FTM is designed to connect DHL Express international shipping to Salesforce through the MyDHL API, bringing rate comparison, label generation, customs documentation, and shipment tracking into the workflows your team already uses.
One API. End-to-End International Shipping.
The DHL MyDHL API provides a unified interface for international shipment workflows, from rate comparison and label generation to customs documentation and real-time tracking. FTM can surface these capabilities within Salesforce when configured.
All capabilities are Available for Integration via the DHL MyDHL API. Deployment in FTM is not yet verified. A DHL Express customer account and API credentials are required.
Compare DHL Express Services Before You Ship
Using the MyDHL Rating API, FTM can retrieve available DHL Express service options alongside estimated rates and delivery dates for a configured shipment, so your team can select the right service without leaving Salesforce.
The Rating API also supports Landed Cost estimates for eligible international shipments, returning estimated duties and taxes based on the item’s HS code, declared value, and destination country.
- Account-based rates where enabled on your DHL account
- Service availability by origin-destination pair
- Landed Cost estimates: duties, taxes, and cross-border fees
Customs Documentation, Connected to Your Shipment Records
International DHL Express shipments require customs documentation, commercial invoices, HS codes, declared values, and sometimes paper supporting documents. Through the MyDHL API, FTM can manage these within the Salesforce shipment record.
-
Commercial InvoiceThe MyDHL API generates a Commercial Invoice for eligible international shipments as part of the label response, retrievable for printing or downstream reference.
-
Paperless Trade (PLT)DHL’s Paperless Trade program enables electronic customs document submission for eligible shipments and trade lanes, replacing paper invoices where accepted by customs authorities.
-
HS Codes and Declared ValuesInternational shipment data passed to DHL includes HS commodity codes, declared values, country of origin, and item-level customs descriptions, sourced from Salesforce records.
DHL Express Tracking, Visible in Salesforce
FTM can call the MyDHL Tracking API to retrieve package scan events, transit milestones, and delivery status for a DHL Express shipment, displaying the information directly on the associated Salesforce record.
The MyDHL API also supports tracking by shipment reference number against a payer account, enabling retrieval without requiring the individual waybill number.
- Scan events and transit milestones from DHL
- Estimated delivery date from the DHL API response
- Electronic Proof of Delivery (ePOD) retrieval where available
Create Shipments and Generate Labels in Salesforce
The MyDHL Shipment API accepts full shipment details, sender, recipient, service, package dimensions, and customs data, and returns a DHL waybill label ready for printing.
- DHL Express label (PDF or thermal) returned from the Shipping API
- Value-added services: insurance, signature required, where supported
- Address validation prior to creation via the Address API
Schedule DHL Pickups from Salesforce
The MyDHL Pickup API supports creating, updating, and canceling DHL Express pickup bookings. FTM can pass pickup location, time window, and package details directly to DHL when configured.

What Changes When International Shipping Connects to Salesforce
Shipment details already stored in Salesforce, addresses, package info, declared values, are reused to populate DHL shipment requests, reducing manual re-entry across systems.
DHL tracking events, transit status, and delivery confirmation appear on the Salesforce record alongside the rest of the order, without requiring a separate lookup on DHL’s website.
Commercial invoices, customs entries, and labels generated by the DHL API are retrievable within the Salesforce workflow, keeping international shipping paperwork alongside the shipment record.
